CBS news feature!

On Friday evenings CBS Evening News features an in-depth segment called “On The Road.” Tomorrow they will run a segment filmed the last week of January in Pocatello, Idaho, home of the Don Aslett Museum of Clean. If the Aslett name sounds familiar, it may be that you own one or more of his bestselling books on cleaning shortcuts, or you may be associated with his company, Varsity Facility Services, Inc., or you might purchase his cleaning products from the home shopping channel, QVC. It’s even possible your toddler has a banana shaped toothbrush from Aslett’s company, Live-Right. How ever you may know this guru of the cleaning industry, his fans know him as the King of the Toilet Ring and his recently launched museum is a wonderland of clean for kids and a memory-lane visit for adults.

Located on the gateway to Yellowstone, Pocatello is on the way to scenic stops like Sun Valley and Jackson Hole, North of Salt Lake City. The Aslett museum and event center makes Pocatello a vacation destination, and meeting planners’ haven all by itself!

Feel free to call Don Aslett for more information or to schedule an interview, 208-232-3535.

This first ever and one-of-a-kind museum collects, preserves, and displays artifacts and records that illuminate the little-known history of cleaning. It gives visitors a new view of clean, its power and omnipresence in our lives—and it’s fun. It highlights more than 3,000 treasures of the past and reveals the progress of cleaning up ourselves and the planet over the centuries. You will find here the tools, machines, appliances, art, posters, and dramatic presentations that add up to a look, feel, hear, and “try-it-out” trip!! Don Aslett, America’s #1 Cleaning Expert, after more than 58 years in the profession of clean, created this as his lifetime legacy. The museum is located in a beautiful southern Idaho city, Pocatello, and housed in a spacious 80,000-square-foot green building.

For sure we are off to a good start. The Don Aslett Museum of Clean will “deal a pat hand” in a special appearance at the 2011 International Sanitary Supply Association—ISSA/Interclean show October 19, 20, 21, 2011. More than a hundred artifacts from the exclusive 5,000-piece collection will be transported from the Pocatello museum and displayed in a 70’x40’ booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center where this year’s show for the professional maintenance industry will be held. They will see into the past—the history of our rich heritage in innovations throughout time, items dating over 100 years. The value of seeing and feeling the roots of many of the machines and chemicals that will be on display from worldwide modern-day vendor booths will probe appreciation for how far we’ve come and the quest for further progress to clean faster, better, cheaper, safer, and greener!

The one-of-a-kind collection began in 1984 and continues to multiply with new finds and new donations, including the 240-piece pre-electric vacuum Peter Frei Collection. As the past is a big part of where we are and where we want to be, anyone—contractors, vendors, and suppliers will be fascinated to see our primitive beginnings. The lack of materials like aluminum or plastic didn’t inhibit the imagination and initiative of the pioneers in the cleaning industry.

We need to be reminded of the past to cement our ambition for the future. The purpose of the ISSA is to bring progressive productivity to the building maintenance industry. With 15,000 attendees able to view the museum display, visit with me, and take home vital information and motivation to change the way the world views cleaning! Which coincides with the museum’s purpose: to promote the value of clean.

You’ll find us straight back from the main entrance, booth number 161. The things you’ll see will surprise you. Paying homage to clean will delight you—even induce you visit me in Pocatello, Idaho at what may become known as the “Disneyland of Clean.”

Can’t wait to see you there!
